The Clerk's Office maintains a historical index to "Deed Volumes" and "Book of Records"  called Direct and Indirect Index Books.  The books reference documents recorded from 1854 to 1985 and are organized alphabetically by book-type, year(s) and grantor/grantee name.

Book Type:  A "Direct" book type has the deed documents sorted by "Grantor" and lists the "Grantor" first.  The "Indirect" book type has the deed documents sorted by "Grantee" and lists the "Grantee" first.

Book:  Direct/Indirect books are organized by year or groups of year. Books have a slight overlap in years from book to book.

Last Name:   Enter a minimum of the first three letters of the last name. The pages in Books 1-10 books are stored using the first 2-3 letters of the surname. For example when you enter "Blanchard" the search tool will use the first three letters "BLA" and will reference page 15. Within each alphabetic index the information is organized chronologically by year (not alphabetically).  The pages in Recent Books (1973-1985) are sorted alphabetically with all pages stored by the first letter of the name.

View:   Displays the page(s) associated with the first letter or letters selected.

ViewPrevious:  Displays the previous page(s) to the one currently selected. (Works only for Books1 to Book10 where name indexes are inconsistent).

ViewNext:  Displays the next page(s) to the one currently selected. (Works only for Books1 to Book10 where name indexes are inconsistent).
